Our Approach to Residential Living

Start Gently

Families can begin with a visit, a short stay, or the walk programme. There is no need to make large decisions before getting a feel for whether Sampan Cove suits the person well.

Adjust as Needed

Situations change. A midweek stay can become a full residence. A walk programme participant might eventually want more. We discuss these transitions honestly and at the family's pace.

A full residential home near the harbour with a focus on community living. Private rooms are furnished simply with quality bedding and storage. Three meals daily draw from local Aberdeen markets. Activities include morning walking groups, afternoon craft circles, and weekend harbour visits. Housekeeping and laundry are managed by staff. Care companions are present at all hours.

Morning Programme

Harbour Walk and Talk

A three-morning programme combining gentle harbour-side walks with group conversation. Participants meet at the home, walk at an easy pace along the Aberdeen promenade, and return for tea and discussion. Each session runs from 9 AM to 11:30 AM. Staff accompany and facilitate conversation. The programme suits those who enjoy fresh air and social connection without needing to live at the home.

What's Included

  • Three sessions per week (Mon, Wed, Fri), 9:00–11:30 AM
  • Gentle walks along Aberdeen Harbour promenade
  • Tea and open group conversation after each walk
  • Staff accompaniment and conversation facilitation throughout

A Tuesday-to-Thursday stay for seniors who need occasional short-term support. Guests receive a private room, all meals, and full activity access. The stay is relaxed and designed to fit naturally into the home's weekday rhythm — unhurried, comfortable, and free of the sense of being a temporary visitor.

Safety Protocols

All activities are risk-assessed. Staff are trained in first aid and know what to do in a range of situations. Environments — indoors and on the promenade — are checked regularly.

Privacy and Dignity

Personal information is handled in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486). Residents and participants are always treated with discretion and respect.

Quality Assurance

The home manager reviews feedback from families and residents regularly. Where something could be done better, we adjust. Quiet improvement matters more than grand announcements.

Communication

Families are kept informed at a frequency that works for them. Contact is always welcome — by phone or in person — and messages are responded to without unnecessary delay.
